Grit Tank in Sedimentation Process

The grit tank in the sedimentation process is often used as a pretreatment method to remove inorganic particles that are easy to settle in the water. The grit chamber is a pretreatment unit that uses physical methods to separate sand particles from water.

Its function is to separate particulate matter from water with a relative density greater than 1.5 and a particulate size of 0.2mm or more, which mainly includes inorganic sand, gravel, and a small amount of dense organic particles such as core skins, seeds, etc.

Grit chambers are generally set up before lifting equipment and treatment equipment to protect water pumps and pipes from wear, prevent subsequent blockade of water structures and reduction of the volume of sludge treatment structures, and at the same time reduce the inorganic content of activated sludge and improve the activity of activated sludge.

Sludge Concentration Sensor

The MLSS300 series sludge concentration sensor, developed and produced by Delfino, is specially designed for sewage and wastewater treatment. It uses an infrared scattering method to monitor the value of sludge concentration in water in real-time.

Currently, we provide three measuring ranges: 0~20g/L, 0~45g/L, 0~120g/L. Users can choose the appropriate range according to their own needs. Regarding the material of the sludge concentration sensor, we provide PVC, stainless steel, and titanium alloy options. PVC has low cost and is suitable for most sewage monitoring applications.

Sludge Concentration Sensor Principle

Based on infrared scattered light technology, the infrared light emitted by the light source is scattered when passing through the sample to be measured during the transmission process. The intensity of the scattered light is directly proportional to the concentration of suspended matter.

The suspended solids (sludge concentration) sensor is equipped with a scattered light receiver in the 140° direction, and the suspended solids concentration value is obtained by analyzing the intensity of this set of scattered light.
