Generally, the higher the turbidity, the cloudier the water appears.

    Turbidity Standards

    Turbidity detection limits vary based on the water supply source and purification techniques used. For urban and rural domestic water supplies, the turbidity detection limit should not exceed 1NTU under normal circumstances and should not exceed 3NTU if the water source and water purification technical conditions have restrictions. For small-scale centralized water supply and decentralized water supply in rural areas, the turbidity detection limit should not exceed 3NTU under normal circumstances and should not exceed 5NTU if the water source and water purification technical conditions are limited.
